Choosing that perfect wedding ring

The wedding ring is perhaps the single most important piece of jewellery that you will give to your spouse in your lifetime – in fact, wedding rings are rarely removed, even on death, so choose carefully!

Keep it in the family

Where do you start?  Well, some grooms look no further than their own family – giving your great grandmother’s wedding ring to the one you love can after all be a very romantic gesture if you offer to have it re-set to her taste and fitted for her.

Matching wedding rings

Some couples opt for matching wedding rings as another symbol of the joining together as partners.  You could go for wedding rings that make a single pattern or motif when joined together, or simply choose the same design on each with the groom’s wedding ring being slightly wider or the bride’s wedding ring including a gemstone.

Engraving

There’s nothing wrong with having individual wedding rings, particularly if your tastes in wedding rings are quite different or this allows the bride to choose a wedding ring that matches her engagement ring.  If the wedding rings you are after are different (or even if they are ‘matching’) then you could always unite them through engraving. Along the inner band of the wedding ring, a quote, the Wedding date, your initials or anything else that takes your fancy can be engraved for a small cost. Watch out though, if you do get the date of your Wedding inscribed on this inside of the wedding ring, you can never have an excuse for forgetting your anniversary!
